Shipping Policy

Delivery Times:

Order Processing: This may take up to 2-3 business days depending on order volume. Orders are processed Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and weekends. For orders placed on weekdays after 12 PM GMT or on weekends or holidays, processing time commences on the next business day.

Shipping Time: Products are dispatched within 2-3 business days after processing. However, due to high demand, stock levels, courier delays, or other unforeseen circumstances, shipping times may be extended. We will do our best to minimize delays and keep you informed of any changes to your order's progress.

Shipping Carrier: We primarily use Royal Mail, but may occasionally utilize UPS, DX, Yodel, or DPD based on operational needs.

Shipping From: UK Store - Scotland.

Shipping Fees: All postage and packaging fees are calculated at checkout based on your order's weight, size, and chosen delivery option. Free shipping applies under certain conditions (see below).​

Shipping Options

Free Shipping: We offer free standard shipping within mainland UK on all orders over £20. Orders below £20 will incur the standard shipping fee. To qualify for free express delivery on orders exceeding £20, the express shipping option must be selected at checkout. *Free postage promotion offers on our website do not apply to orders placed during school virtual book fairs.

Express Delivery: While express delivery options can expedite the shipping time of your order, please note that it does not affect the standard processing time of 2-3 business days. Express delivery utilizes the courier's premium service to get your package to you faster once it's shipped.

Shipping Area: We ship to all UK mainland areas. Deliveries to the Scottish Highlands (excluding remote areas) may experience slightly longer delivery times. We can only ship to locations serviced by a courier or delivery company.

Delivery Options

Local Collection (Free): You will be notified when your order is ready for pickup. Please contact us to arrange a convenient collection time.

Local Delivery (Aberdeen City Area - £3.00): Free for orders exceeding £20. See our service map https://www.bookmama.co.uk/ for covered areas.

Express Delivery (24hrs & 48hrs): Fully tracked options are available at checkout for an additional fee.

Build a Box: Virtual shopping basket allowing you to collect individual books over time for a single bulk shipment.

Virtual School Fair Delivery: School orders are processed after the close of the virtual fair and delivered directly to the school for collection/distribution.

International Shipping: Currently unavailable.

Lost Items

In the unlikely event that your order is lost or damaged during shipping, please contact us immediately at support@bookmama.co.uk. We will work with the carrier to investigate the issue and determine the best course of action.

Damaged Items

While damage during shipping is uncommon, we understand it can happen. If you receive an item that appears damaged, please contact us within 24 hours of receipt at support@bookmama.co.uk. To expedite the resolution, please include a brief description of the damage and photos of both the packaging and the damaged item itself. For your reference, all items are photographed before shipping.

Upon review, if we determine the damage occurred during transit and is significant enough to warrant a replacement, we'll gladly send you a new one. In this case, we may request the return of the damaged item in the condition it was received. Alternatively, we may offer a partial refund if you prefer to keep the item.

For damaged items, you will be responsible for the cost of return shipping. In some cases, we may offer a full or partial refund of the return shipping cost, depending on the situation.

For minor damage cases, we may propose alternative solutions such as a partial refund. The amount of any partial refund will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Returns

You have 30 days from the date of receipt to return any unwanted items. Returned items must be in their original, unopened, and undamaged condition.

Customers are responsible for covering return shipping costs. For returned items, you will be responsible for the cost of return shipping. In some cases, we may offer a full or partial refund of the return shipping cost, depending on the situation.

A restocking fee of 10% may apply to returned items that are not defective.
